Jane is our Family Support Worker, coming into the service with a wealth of experience with a social work background in working with children and their families.
When families or individuals begin to feel overwhelmed and sense that they are approaching a crisis point, it is not uncommon for communication within the family to break down. This can result in a tense and stressful atmosphere at home, making it increasingly difficult for everyone involved to express their concerns or needs. In such situations, I aim to provide the necessary support to help families navigate these challenging moments.
By offering a compassionate and non-judgemental presence I hope to build trusting relationships which will assist in restoring open lines of communication and creating a calmer, more supportive environment where issues can be addressed constructively.
To do this I could visit families, in their own homes, where I can engage with individual family members, and then with the family unit. However, there is flexibility in how I can offer support, needs can be tailored to fit.
